During this coronavirus extravaganza I have learned quite a lot. The main thing I learned is that God can put everything on hold if he wants too. “And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD before the new court and said, “O LORD God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.”” (2 Chronicles 20:6). God also does everything according to his will not ours. He put the whole world on pause and didn’t care that we had school or that it ruined our summer. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (romans 12:2) . It may not always seem like it but God is always on our side. He has a plan for this virus and everything it has affected. We are naturally selfish and never see the big picture. We may feel like our life is the only thing going on but we are part of something way bigger. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. (1 Corinthians 12:26) It isn’t often that one feels like everyone they meet is their brother and sister but that is how God intended it to be. When we give our life to Christ we join a huge family with the whole world. Another thing he has taught me that you can’t just have a relationship with the church. You have to develop a relationship with him by yourself. If you only do it at church you don’t truly don’t have a relationship with him. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:10-13)

There was a time where it was very hard for me and my faith. It was during the beginning of my junior year. I had stopped talking to the kids at school over the summer because they were doing some things that I did not want to participate in. I felt that if I wanted to follow Christ I should not be doing those things. “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all Or “every” sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (John 1:7-9). After this I sat at lunch alone and didn’t have any friends at school and for a little bit outside of school. I stayed steadfast in his word and came upon this scripture. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4). I continued staying steadfast in the word and I met an amazing group of friends who all desire our walk with Jesus over anything else. I am saying all of this to say persevere through your trials, hard times, and temptation. The reward is so much better than the immediate and short satisfaction from this earth. Another point I would like to touch on is comfortability. I always say “God can’t work in your comfort zone.” This is a very true statement. God does incredible things and he’s trying to make you more like him. Not everything he doesn will make you comfortable but you just have to trust him and believe that he is always in your corner. And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:58-62

I would like to talk about the simple life today. I am a huge enthusiast for simple life and believe everyone should do it. The simple life is all about relaxing and having fun all the time. For me, it’s moving to the beach and opening a beach front restaurant either in florida or in south carolina.  I don’t think I would thrive at all in a 9-5 job sitting at a desk. If it was up to me I would rather enjoy my job than become rich. I cannot not stand the idea of doing something you hate but you make a lot of many. Say I become rich one day, I don’t think I would buy these massive houses and fancy cars. I believe I would still buy a smaller house on the beach and own a little restaurant because I enjoy the nice stuff but it’s not what makes me happy. I prefer to sit back and relax, and we all know the famous saying “more money more problems” which is very true.

As I look at what the world has become I often wonder what I can do to change. I intend to change it to what God wants it to be. By bringing the kingdom down to earth, it will be so much different. Everyone would be nicer and more polite. There wouldn’t be bullies and everyone would be friends. My plan to do this is just to live like Jesus did. By doing this people will notice something is different about me from the rest of the world. By not giving into earthly things people will be wondering why and that gives opportunity to spread the gospel. “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15) I hope I work hard enough to rise into a position of power so that I can spread the gospel to many more people than just the ones I happen to run into. “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!” (Jame 3:1-18) This verse tells me that even if everyone is trying to live for Christ it doesn’t matter if we don’t do his will. We are weak in the flesh and can be very tempted easily. If you aren’t called to say starting a conference, you shouldn’t. For the kingdom to come down to earth we need to do his will and not our own. Every human is born with the idea to do our own will, and not anyone God’s plan. It takes spending one on one time with him to want to do what he wants you to do. As you’re spending time with him he begins to change your heart and mind to become more like him without even realizing it.It’s crazy what he can do in such a short amount of time if you just dive into the word for 15 min a day. It’s crazy what you can do if you just do it with God instead of doing it by yourself. The main goal is to try and change the world by introducing the gospel. The world will be a much better place if everyone is living for Christ and actively pursuing him.

My name is Hudson Jervey, Iwas born on May 28, 2003 which makes me 16. I enjoy hiking, going to the lake, playing tennis, and hanging out with friends. My personality is a campaigner and my main spiritual gift is an evangelist. A couple events that have helped shape my life are summer camp of 2019 because it’s where I came to know christ and it changed me. Another event was my little brother being born in 2009 because that’s when I learned that I need to take some responsibility in being an older brother. The last event that shaped my life most was switching to mount paran because it was a real perspective and was a much better environment for me.
